CWT Calculator

Cooperatives Working Together, or CWT, has conducted 7 herd retirement programs since it's inception in 2003. The goal of the herd retirement programs is to reduce the U.S. milking herd and ultimately increase the price of milk for farms remaining in production. They are currently collecting 10¢ per cwt of milk produced from participating cooperatives and independent producers. If you are considering liquidating your herd, this program will help you to organize your thought process to submit a bid.

More information about CWT is available on their web site.

Mark Stephenson and Wayne Knoblauch, faculty in the department of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University, have developed a simple calculator that is consistent with the rules of the voluntary herd reduction program.
